RBS is offering £200 to switch to its Select or Reward account. This is a single lump-sum payment rather than a staged offer: you get the full £200 once you've completed a Current Account Switch Service (CASS) switch, paid in at least £1,250 within 60 days, and logged into the RBS mobile app within 60 days. RBS states this is paid within 30 days of meeting all the criteria. Note that the Select account is free, while the Reward account costs £2 a month but earns £5 a month in cashback.

There is no higher-earner requirement, no region restriction beyond standard UK-only availability, and no bank exclusion period specified, so there's no "who can't apply" section here.

On the 25p Direct Debit front, this one doesn't apply: RBS doesn't require a set number of direct debits to qualify. The core requirements are the £1,250 pay-in and the mobile app login, so there's nothing to game with a token 25p Direct Debit.

Compared with the other standard accounts on offer, RBS's £200 sits at the lower end alongside Ulster Bank and NatWest, which also pay £200 with no direct debits required and a single lump sum — making all three straightforward on paper. Santander (£240) and HSBC (£220) pay more but ask for two direct debits each, still as single lump sums. If you want a bigger headline figure and don't mind higher income or balance requirements, HSBC's £500 offer is worth noting, but that's a premium-tier account with eligibility criteria well beyond a standard switch, so it isn't a like-for-like comparison with RBS.
